We ALL Can Do It

I chose this picture for my blog this week because it really stood out to me. I say this because I wasn't expecting it. Usually, we see the picture of the American woman doing this pose saying, "we can do it," but that was clearly not the case with this picture. I really like how it includes women from different places and different races; feminism is not gender specific, so it is important to use pictures like this one to convey that fact to people. I think this picture sends out an even stronger message about feminism because it is so unexpected. I'm sure people usually think of feminism as being a white, North American female's movement, but it really isn't because feminism extends everywhere around the world. Also, feminism is more than just focusing on women's rights, it focuses on equal rights for all. I disagree with what the picture says at the bottom however. I do not think that feminism would be worthless without intersectionality and inclusion, but I do think it would not be as powerful and would struggle. Combining intersectionality into the feminist movement is essential, because again, feminism does not apply only to white women in the United States.
