Anorexia is a serious issue and there is no way that it should be promoted by a Halloween costume. My friend's sister's sorority at SIUE, Delta Phi Epsilon, started this petition and I think it is a really good idea to do so. We can help stop this costume from selling again by signing the petition and/or spreading the word. They need quite a few more signatures so if you girls are able, please sign it for them. Of course, you are by no means obligated or required to sign. :) Thank you for your time!!
This actually made me sick when you showed the costume in class. This is so not funny on so many levels. Anorexia is a serious mental disease that needs intense therapy. Would someone make a bipolar, dyslexia, phobia, PTSD or down syndrome costume and think it funny? No. It's a medical condition, not a joke. Definitely signing this thing!!
ReplyDeleteI also thought this was extremely sickening! I have had a few friends who have struggled with this disease and it is by no means a laughing matter. I understand that Halloween costumes are meant to make statements and invoke humor, but this costume is just unacceptable. Mental diseases are NOT funny and I think the company that made this "costume" owes a big apology to everyone, especially those who have suffered from anorexia. I definitely will be signing this petition!
