Playhouse creatures
So I don'y know if any of you saw the play this weekend, but if you didn't and are planning n seeing it well forewarning spoilers. So in the play there is this one line that really speaks to me every time it is said. Two of the actresses have finally gotten shares in the company and on of the girls goes "You're free to do what you like and I'm free to do what I like we're different thats all" and the other actress goes "Free to play a faithful wife, an unfaithful wife, a whore, a mistress; we play and being what we are where is the freedom in that?" I think that this line really captures the essence of what the show is trying to say about the treatment of women and how this one women had finally understood that no matter what she did she was going to play at what society made her, that it didn't matter who she actually was and what she actually did. She would only be looked at in relation to how she was to men. I think that this show really speaks about what is relevant in todays society still when we look at magazines or advertisments, we see women as men want women to be seen. The sexualization of women is to degrade and make lesser then what they are.

I didn't see the play personally but what stuck out to me the most was the comment about no matter what a woman does, what shall be seen is here treatment of men. No matter how much success a woman performs her life will only be measured by her marital status or children. No one measures a man's life in such light.
