Week 1
So far I have to say that I have a feeling this is going to be one of my favorite classes of the semester. I have never before taken a class about women's studies or anything of the sort. A week in and already I feel that the topics presented in this class are both thought provoking and great conversation starters. I'm excited to learn more about feminism and the feminist movement. Honestly in this first week while I have become excited to get class going and learn more about what it means to be a feminist I am left with several questions...Am I a feminist? Have I been oppressed because I am a women? Am I an anti-feminist? Is there just one definition of feminism? Is there just one way to be a feminist? All these questions fill my mind, as I am sure some of them fill the minds of my classmates as well. Honestly I don't know if there is even a correct answer to a lot of the questions that this class with bring up. I mean I think I'm a feminist. I know I believe in equality. Still I feel as though I am uneducated in the matter. I am interested to learn more about myself though. I hope this class will help me create my own definition of what it means to be a feminist.

ReplyDelete:D I hope that you feel some kind of way when you look back at this after finals. From a different perspective, I desire this honesty about identity/state of being and education as re-mirror-like in revealing things about yourself you may have over looked.
